Together we are running the London Marathon in Loving memory of our Grandad, Lloyd Hinds🩵
In April 2027, we will be taking on the London Marathon in memory of our incredible Grandad, Lloyd George Hinds while raising funds for The Myton Hospices.
Our grandad fought a courageous four-year battle with stomach cancer. Throughout his illness, he received very little treatment, yet he faced every setback with remarkable strength, resilience and an unwavering smile. No matter how difficult things became, he continued to put everyone else first and never let his illness define him.
As we train over the coming months, there will undoubtedly be moments when our legs ache, our bodies are exhausted and every step feels difficult. But we’ll remind ourselves that no mile we run will ever compare to the journey our grandad had to endure. If he could face everything he did with a smile, then we’ll do our best to cross every finish line with one too.
Towards the end of his life, our family experienced first-hand the incredible compassion, dignity and support provided by The Myton Hospices. The care they gave our grandad, and all of us around him, during such a difficult time is something we will never forget.
Every single day, Myton continues to provide that same exceptional care, comfort and kindness to patients living with terminal illnesses and to the families walking alongside them. They make the hardest days just a little more bearable, and no family should ever have to face that journey without support.
Together, we hope to raise £6,000 to help ensure Myton can continue providing this incredible care for other families when they need it most.
Whether you choose to donate, share our page or simply cheer us on throughout our training, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your support means more than you know.
Every mile is for our grandad. Every pound is for the families who will need Myton tomorrow.
For Grandad. For Every Family. Always. 💙
It costs over £15 million every year to provide its services free of charge to patients and their loved ones.
As a charity, with less than 20% of its funding coming from the NHS, Myton must raise more than £12 million this year.
More people than ever need a Hospice Bed and, tragically, too many people on the waiting list for a bed at Myton will die before they can access one.
As the only provider of Hospice Inpatient Beds in Coventry and Warwickshire, the demand is huge.
That is why I am taking on the London Marathon. I want to help raise the money Myton needs to be there for everyone who needs its care, now and in the future.
To reach this year’s £150,000 target, Myton relies entirely on sponsorship from people like you. Here is what your support could help fund:
• £94 could fund one adult counselling session
• £360 could fund Myton at Home for one patient for one day
• £450 could fund an Inpatient bed for one day
• £545 could fund the required drugs for one patient
Please donate today and help make every mile count for people who need The Myton Hospices most.
