Running the 2027 TCS London Marathon for The Myton Hospices – In Memory of my mum Pamela Davies

On Saturday 24th April, I'll be taking on the biggest challenge of my life by running the London Marathon in memory of my mum Pamela and to raise money for The Myton Hospices.

If you know me, you'll know that running 26.2 miles is going to be an extremely hard challenge. I'm starting off overweight and from a place where running even a short distance is tough. Every mile of training will be hard, but nothing I experience over the coming months will compare to what my mum went through.

My mum battled cancer for just over three years. She was the bravest person I've ever known. Despite everything she faced, she never complained, never gave up and never showed fear. Her strength was incredible, and she inspired everyone around her.

Towards the end of her life, we experienced some of the most difficult weeks our family has ever known. After spending hours waiting in A&E and weeks in hospital, my mum simply wanted peace, comfort and dignity. Watching someone you love suffer while feeling powerless is something I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Then Myton happened.

The moment Mum arrived at Myton, everything changed.

For the first time in weeks, she was treated with the dignity, compassion and respect she deserved. The incredible nurses, doctors and care staff didn't just care for my mum—they cared for our whole family. They eased her pain, calmed my fears and gave us the precious gift of being able to spend our final days together knowing she was safe, comfortable and surrounded by people who genuinely cared.

They gave us something I can never repay.

Before this experience, I knew Myton did amazing work. Having worked there, I'd heard countless families speak about the difference they made. But until it was my own mum lying in one of those beds, I never truly understood just how special they are.

The care they gave my mum, and the kindness they showed me and my family during the worst time of our lives, is something I will carry with me forever.

That's why I'm running.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help Myton continue providing specialist care to people facing the most difficult days of their lives. It will help other families experience the same compassion, comfort and dignity that my mum received.

When the training gets tough and my legs are telling me to stop, I'll remember why I started.

I'll be running every single mile for Mum.

If you're able to support me, I would be incredibly grateful. Your donation isn't just helping me reach the finish line—it's helping Myton continue giving families hope, comfort and precious memories when they need them most.

Thank you for reading, thank you for your support, and thank you for helping me honour my mum's memory.

Thanks Marc

The Myton Hospices provides compassionate care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families, both in its Inpatient Units and out in the community.

It costs over £15 million every year to provide its services free of charge to patients and their loved ones.

As a charity, with less than 20% of its funding coming from the NHS, Myton must raise more than £12 million this year.

More people than ever need a Hospice Bed and, tragically, too many people on the waiting list for a bed at Myton will die before they can access one.

As the only provider of Hospice Inpatient Beds in Coventry and Warwickshire, the demand is huge.

That is why I am taking on the London Marathon. I want to help raise the money Myton needs to be there for everyone who needs its care, now and in the future.

To reach this year’s £150,000 target, Myton relies entirely on sponsorship from people like you. Here is what your support could help fund:

• £94 could fund one adult counselling session
• £360 could fund Myton at Home for one patient for one day
• £450 could fund an Inpatient bed for one day
• £545 could fund the required drugs for one patient

Please donate today and help make every mile count for people who need The Myton Hospices most.
