Im running the London Marathon to raise money for Myton Hospice after I witnessed the amazing job they did for my incredible friend Emma and her beautful famliy.

"We Dwarves are natural sprinters"  - Gimley

We all know I am no long distance runner.  Over 100m I can beat a greyhound but after that im done.  I have done this before, I ran the marathon in 2018, with no training, I stumbled through slowly.  This time I intend to get a respectable time of around 4 hours and training has started already.

At the start of the year my friend was given a terminal diagnosis.  2 young children and a husband that both needed and wanted her around.  At the end of January she went into Myton Hospice for her final few days.  They were incredible, they made a hospice room a family sanctuary.  Cinema nights, holistic treatment, kindness and comfort.  She wasn't expected to make February half term.......yesterday she went on her family summer holiday.  Treatment is ongoing and she isn't clear of cancer but that time away from the hospital bed and into a homely environment gave Emma the space to heal a bit and give her more well deserved time.  To Sinead and I she is an inspiration of strength and wonder.  Myton Hospice are the same; they have this amazing facility yet couldn't have all the rooms open because of a lack of funding.  We need hospices and Myton Hospice is a very special place.

Please join me on my adventure, any little helps.  I will accept abuse, forfeits, challenges alongside your kind monetary donations.

I’m taking on the London Marathon to help raise £150,000 for The Myton Hospices amid a national hospice funding crisis. That could fund the running costs of the Warwick Inpatient Unit for a month. Please sponsor me today.

Running 26.2 miles through the streets of London will be one of the biggest challenges I have ever taken on. It will mean months of training, early mornings, long runs, tired legs and plenty of determination before I even reach the start line.

Every mile of that training will be worth it if it helps The Myton Hospices continue supporting people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

We know £150,000 is an ambitious target, but with your support, we are confident we can reach it.

The Myton Hospices provides compassionate care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families, both in its Inpatient Units and out in the community.

It costs over £15 million every year to provide its services free of charge to patients and their loved ones.

As a charity, with less than 20% of its funding coming from the NHS, Myton must raise more than £12 million this year.

More people than ever need a Hospice Bed and, tragically, too many people on the waiting list for a bed at Myton will die before they can access one.

As the only provider of Hospice Inpatient Beds in Coventry and Warwickshire, the demand is huge.

That is why I am taking on the London Marathon. I want to help raise the money Myton needs to be there for everyone who needs its care, now and in the future.

To reach this year’s £150,000 target, Myton relies entirely on sponsorship from people like you. Here is what your support could help fund:

• £94 could fund one adult counselling session
• £360 could fund Myton at Home for one patient for one day
• £450 could fund an Inpatient bed for one day
• £545 could fund the required drugs for one patient

Please donate today and help make every mile count for people who need The Myton Hospices most.
