On 3rd August 2026, we lost our incredible Sarah at just 57 years old, after a battle with cancer that had spanned 14 years.

But simply saying that Sarah “battled cancer” doesn’t really tell her story.

She had already faced a cancer scare and major surgery at just 36 years old. Years later, when cancer came back into her life, she continued to defy the odds time and time again. She fought incredibly hard, right until the very end.

Sarah wanted to live. She loved her life, she loved her family, and above everything else, she loved her three boys: Jamie, Luke and Jack.

She was their mum, their biggest supporter and, when required, apparently their very persistent alarm clock.

Anyone who knew Sarah, or particularly anyone who ever received a strategically aimed splash of water to the face because they weren’t getting up for work quickly enough, will know exactly what we mean.

She was strong, determined, funny, loving and fiercely devoted to her family. She fought for so many years to stay with the people she loved, and she leaves behind a space that simply cannot be filled.

💙 Myton Hospice

During the final days of Sarah’s life, Coventry Myton Hospice cared for her.

Myton made sure she was comfortable. They protected her dignity. They managed her pain. They surrounded her with compassion and kindness. And they gave her family the opportunity to simply be with her.

Sarah was able to spend her final days being cared for by people who understood that end-of-life care is about so much more than medicine. It is about the person, their family, their wishes and making every remaining moment matter.

We will never be able to properly repay Myton for what they gave Sarah and our family during those days.

But we can try to give something back.

We are taking part in the six-mile Walk for Myton in Sarah’s memory, raising money so that Myton can continue to be there for another person, another mum, another family facing the same unimaginable situation.

🌻 Why your support matters

Myton provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care to people living with terminal illnesses across Coventry and Warwickshire, supporting not only patients but the people who love and care for them.

Their work includes specialist inpatient care in Coventry and Warwick, care for people who want to remain in their own homes through Myton at Home, respite care, counselling and bereavement support, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, complementary therapies, symptom management and wider emotional, practical and spiritual support for patients and their families.

And all of this care is provided free of charge.

It costs more than £15 million every year for Myton to provide its services. Less than 20% of that funding comes from the NHS, meaning Myton needs to raise more than £12 million this year through donations, fundraising and the generosity of people in the community.

Every donation genuinely contributes towards that care. 

·        £34 can cover the daily upkeep of Myton’s relatives’ accommodation.

·        £60 could fund two hours of specialist nursing care.

·        £90 could fund three children’s counselling sessions.

·        £126 could cover a patient’s meals for an entire week.

So whether you can give £5, £10, £20 or anything at all… every single donation matters.

For us, this walk is about giving something back to the people who cared for Sarah when she needed them most. It’s about helping another family receive the same compassion that ours did. And most importantly, it’s about remembering her.

For the woman who defied the odds more than once.

For the mum who spent her life pushing Jamie, Luke and Jack to get up, get out there and do their best.

For the woman who fought for 14 years and never stopped wanting more time with the people she loved.

For someone who was so incredibly loved, and who will be missed more than words can properly explain.

We’ll walk every one of those six miles with her in our thoughts.
