I'm joining The Myton Hospices 'Moonlight Walk' in memory of Mum x
In memory of our wonderful Mum, Lexie, I will be taking part in Myton Hospices' 10km Moonlight Walk on 17th April.
This June 20th, marks 10 years since we last held Mum's hand. As many of you know, Mum was cared for at Myton Hospice in Coventry. Aged just 64, Mum had only just seen the birth of her first grandchild, Max. He was her dream come true. Very sadly, her time with him was all too brief but, thanks to the facilities and support at Myton, she was able to enjoy some precious moments with him. Moments that we continue to treasure as a family.
We will be forever grateful to all the staff who cared for Mum during those nearly six weeks. We came to know the team very well and saw first-hand, the amazing support they provide. The kindness and respect showed to Mum, and the ability for us to stay with her night and day gave us such peace of mind in the most heartbreaking of times. We know that in extremely difficult circumstances, we managed to give the very best care possible to our incredible, brave Mum.
We want to ensure that this support continues to be available for other families when they need it most.
To continue offering this care – both in the Inpatient Units and out in the community, Myton Hospices need to raise £12.7 million of the £15.3 million it will cost this year.
They are not the NHS - they are a charity, and just 17% of their funding comes from the NHS.
As the only provider of Hospice Inpatient Beds in Coventry and Warwickshire, the demand is huge.
Here's how your money can help:
• £60 could fund two hours of specialist nursing
care
• £94 could fund one adult counselling session
• £360 could fund our Myton at Home service for a patient for one day
• £450 could fund an Inpatient bed for one day
• £545 could fund the required drugs for one patient
We miss our Mum every minute of every day. It means so much that, through our heartache, and in her honour, we can make a difference.
