We’ve all been affect by cancer. All too often we’ve lost friends, family members, loved ones, colleagues, heroes and heroines. As the saying goes, fuck cancer. 

I think about my brother, given the crushing diagnosis of cancer 25 years ago. I clearly remember the last conversation I had with him. We talked about his beloved bonsai collection. The thing is, that was actually last week, he has been cancer free for decades. And this week I’ve heard from more friends emerging from the shadow of the disease. Cancer can be beaten, and every day people are walking out of their treatment unit and ringing the bell in victory.

But not everyone. Several good friends received incredible care from Myton Hospice when their own treatment options ran dry. They are an incredible team and dedicated, kind people and truly deserve all the help we can offer. 

I’ve be cycling for about 3 hours, give or take the time it takes to stop for a slice of cake and a cup of weak tea. That’s nothing for me, but the money I raise can and will make a difference.

The Myton Hospices provides compassionate care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families - both in their Inpatient Units and out in the community.

To continue offering this care free of charge, they need to raise £12.7 million of the £15.3 million it will cost this year.

They are not the NHS - they are a charity, and just 17% of their funding comes from the NHS.

More people than ever need a Hospice Bed, and tragically, too many people on the waiting list for a bed at Myton will die before they can access one.

As the only provider of Hospice Inpatient Beds in Coventry and Warwickshire, the demand is huge.


That’s why I’m taking on The Myton Hospices Cycle Challenge, to raise money so they can be there for everyone who needs them, now and in the future.
